A rapid phase-out of existing fossil fuel projects and just transition to a renewable energy economy
The U.S. has the resources and the ingenuity to lead the way in a transition which not only addresses the climate crisis but creates more equitable, more prosperous, and more secure communities. As we transition off fossil fuels, we must ensure it is done in a way that centers environment and social justice, and:
ensures workers and communities currently dependent on the fossil fuel industry have opportunities to thrive in the renewable energy economy;
invests in the prosperity of communities on the frontlines of poverty and pollution;
respects Indigenous rights and sovereignty;
welcomes those displaced by the cumulative effects of the climate crisis, economic inequality, violence, and lack of opportunity.
